Here at The Accounting Studio, we’ve long been fans of Quickfile.
For those of you who don’t know it Quickfile is one of the best, if not (in our opinion) the best free cloud accounting software in the UK.
It has amazing functionality and integration (GoCardless, Paypal, SagePay etc) – it is also FREE!
To our mind it beats the other free key contenders (Wave and Pandle) hands down, and could give Xero and QuickBooks a run for their money (not that they charge anything – did we mention its free!)
Anyway there have been two issues that Quickfile has had that has historically held it back:
- No dedicated smartphone app
- Poor bank feed integration
Well today the bank feed issue appears to have disappeared as they have announced the launch of their bank feed functionality via Yodlee.
Yodlee is basically the way that all cloud accounting software providers access bank data. It has some serious hardcore security in place to protect you bank information from hackers (apparently the same level of security that the banks themselves have in place).
What this now means is that automated bookkeeping is now one step closer on Quickfile. We’ve yet to test how the software handles this bank feed data but if it works like the rest of the software it should be great.
The downside is that for this service they will be charging £15 per year + VAT. Sure, its not free, but we think the time saving will be worth it in most cases.
(We weren’t paid to say any of this, we just think it’s a really great bit of software, and given it’s free, probably needs all the support it can get – we would be sad to see it go!)
